S ometime during the last month, our subversion server went down, and left our handy micro theme out in the cold. Poor, poor, inaccessible micro theme. Today, we served up a steaming cup of hot cocoa, and moved from subversion to git. Yes, git, just like the cool kids.

update: i’ve recently moved from svn to git. you can now clone the micro theme using:
git clone git://github.com/seaofclouds/micro-theme.git
T hanks to bug, justin, jeff and all you micro users out there, the untabbed version of micro has just been updated with a few handy bug fixes. i’ve updated the svn repo with this final 1.0 release:
svn export http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/tags/v1.0-b62
users of the tabbed version of the theme will appreciate the forthcoming release, which is currently in svn trunk. during the next few days, i’m looking forward to merging the tabbed and untabbed versions, and collapsing the css hierarchy for easier theming. the seaofclouds site also uses the micro theme, and i’d like to use as much same structure as possible. tabbed users can get the latest and greatest at:
svn export http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/trunk
any thoughts or requests for version two?

S eeing the micro theme in action over at Pascal’s excellent mephisto theme gallery made me realize that there’s a real need to display sections in micro. with a little development and a lot of love, i present a choice:

tabbed theme left, and the default untabbed to the right
svn export http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/branches/micro_tabbed
svn export http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/trunk

the bugs have been cleaned up, and a few new features bring us to an official, 1.0 release of the micro theme. some of the improvements over the previous release are:

the micro theme still has site specific html that i need to strip out, but it’s pretty functional as is. if you’re ambitious – i’ve set up a subversion repository for micro, at:
http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/trunk/
subverison is the easiest way to get your hands on micro. load it directly into your mephisto themes directory – from your shell, do:
svn export http://svn.seaofclouds.com/micro/trunk

for the launch of the italy blog, living siena, i wanted a simple theme for the mephisto publishing system. there are a few theme options available for mephisto, but none that struck me as “yeah, that’s siena,” or, “perfect, i want it.” with that, micro was born.
